The U.S. Marine Corps has selected Northrop Grumman Corp. to provide electronic jamming backpack systems to counter the threat of roadside improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

The Office of Naval Research (ONR) has awarded Raytheon Co. an $8.5 million base contract to design the Flexible Distributed Array Radar (FlexDAR), enabling dynamic multi-mission radars capable of executing a variety of functions including surveillance, communications and electronic warfare.

Virginia Diodes Inc. introduced new mini vector network analyzer extension modules, with one quarter of the volume of earlier models. These smaller modules are reduced in size but yield the same industry leading performance as the original designs. This makes them extremely attractive for applications such as probe stations and antenna ranges.

Vishay Intertechnology Inc. introduced a new Hi-Rel series of TANTAMOUNT® surface-mount solid tantalum molded chip capacitors for military and aerospace applications. Available with high-reliability screening and surge current testing options in accordance with MIL-PRF-55365, the Vishay Sprague T42series combines a built-in fuse for fail-safe operation with high capacitance and voltage ratings and low ESR down to 80 mΩ at +25 °C and 100 kHz. 

Aeroflex Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Aeroflex Holding Corp., has announced the separate availability of the LTE Downlink Measurement Suite, a suite of software tools that works with the Aeroflex PXI 3000 platform to characterize the transmitter and receiver parameters of LTE base stations (eNodeB) and small cells in production test.

High Speed Interconnects (www.highspeedint.com), a custom, high-performance, cable assembly manufacturer, has announced the launch of a new website which features their full product lines of ultra-high performance and robust DC-60 GHz micro coaxial and DC-70 GHz coaxial cable assemblies. Many of these assemblies feature a new ePTFE dielectric called VP90, a key enabler.

API Technologies Corp., a leading provider of high performance RF/microwave, power and security solutions for critical and high-reliability applications, announced the receipt of a new $1.6 million award to provide microwave filters and switched filters to a leading global defense company. These high reliability filters will be used in a major airborne electronic warfare (EW) platform.

At IMS 2014, Vishay will be highlighting its VJ HIFREQ series and VJ QUAD HIFREQ series of surface-mount multilayer ceramic chip capacitors (MLCCs). Offering high self resonance and a low dissipation factor of = 0.05 % in the 0402, 0603, and 0805 case sizes, devices in the VJ HIFREQ series are optimized for filter and matching networks, and amplifier and DC blocking circuits in high-frequency commercial applications. The MLCCs reduce signal loss and energy consumption in power amplifier modules, VoIP networks, cellular base stations, GPS systems, and satellite, WiFi (802.11), and WiMAX (802.16) wireless communication. The VJ HIFREQ series features broad working voltages from 25 VDC to 250 VDC and wide capacitance ranges from 1 pF to 1.5 nF.
