Cree announces mixed Q4 and FY15 results

Creeannounced mixed fiscal fourth quarter and year-end financial results on August 11. For Q4, company revenue was $382 million, down 6.7 percent from the prior quarter and down 12 percent from the year-ago quarter. For the full year (FY2015), Cree revenue was $1.63 billion, down 0.9 percent from FY2014.  For fiscal year 2015, Power and RF Products revenue was $123.9 million, a 15 percent increase over fiscal 2014. CFO Michael McDevitt said the gain was "driven by growth in our power products."

Freescale RF revenue drops four percent in Q2

Reflects slowing wireless CapEx spending
Announcing fiscal second quarter 2015 earnings results, Freescale reported RF segment revenue of $177 million, 3.8 percent below Q1 and 48 percent above last year's second quarter. The segment's revenue comes primarily from LDMOS power transistors used in cellular base stations. The company attributed the sequential decline to "slowing wireless capital expenditure spending in major markets, including China." The LTE build-out in China has fueled strong growth in the RF segment through 2014 and 2015, despite the slight decline in Q2.

Mobile TETRA LTE radio system from Cassidian passes its first functional test by the German Armed Forces

Cassidian has supplied a customer with the world’s first prototype of a mobile TETRA LTE radio system, which will allow voice and broadband data services to be used in parallel. As part of the German Armed Forces’ highly mobile cellular networks study, HochZeN (Hochmobile Zellulare Netzwerke), the system passed its first functional test when it was accepted by the Armed Forces’ Technical Centre for Information Technology and Electronics (WTD 81) in November.
