The 2024 IEEE Symposium on VLSI Technology & Circuits has announced a call for workshop topics in support of the conference theme, “Bridging the Digital & Physical Worlds with Efficiency & Intelligence.” The topics and scope of the workshop sessions are focused on merging research with applications in areas that have not been covered in detail in the symposium technical program, and could serve as topics for future symposium sessions. The workshop sessions will be held in person during the symposium on Sunday, June 16, 2024 and available as on-demand recorded content following the symposium.
The deadline for the workshop submission for the Symposium is December 11, 2023, with acceptance notification in early January 2024.
The IEEE Symposium on VLSI Technology & Circuits seeks proposals for workshop submissions on topics that include, but are not limited to:
- Open-source design
- Chiplet ecosystem: Challenges & opportunities
- Generative AI design
- Interfacing chips with biology: Ultra-low-power circuit design techniques
- Circuits for quantum computing
- 3D packaging and integration technologies
- High-performance mixed-mode circuits: Art in balancing between the analog versus digital effort
- Exciting topics in the field of technology and circuits that encourage knowledge sharing, collaborative discussions and innovation.
The following information is required (using the online submission form):
- Title of the workshop
- Description
- Organizers (brief biographies and affiliations)
- Topics (potential presentation segments)
- Potential speakers

Now in its 44th year of delivering a unique convergence of technology and circuits for the microelectronics industry, the 2024 IEEE Symposium on VLSI Technology & Circuits is scheduled from June 16 – 20, 2024 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Held as a five-day event, combining both live sessions onsite at the Hilton Hawaiian Village, as well as on-demand access to selected presentations following the conference, the symposium features advanced VLSI technology developments, innovative circuit design and the applications they enable, such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, IoT, wearable/implantable biomedical applications, big data, cloud/edge computing, virtual reality/augmented reality, robotics and autonomous vehicles.
The weeklong Symposium will continue its reputation as the microelectronics industry’s premiere international conference integrating technology, circuits and systems with a range and scope unlike any other conference. In addition to the technical presentations, the Symposium program will feature a demonstration session, evening panel discussions, joint focus sessions, short courses and workshops.
Special events at the symposium include mentoring events for Women in Engineering and Young Professionals, sponsored by the IEEE Electron Devices Society and the Solid State Circuits Society and the traditional luau celebration.
