Richardson RFPD, Inc. announced the availability and full design support capabilities for a new ultracapacitor cell from Maxwell Technologies.

The new 2.85V, 3400F BCAP3400P285K04 is Maxwell’s latest addition to its K2 Series and increases the range of available specific power and stored energy in the industry-standard 60 mm cylindrical “K2” form factor. It also introduces Maxwell’s DuraBlue™ Shock and Vibration Technology, which increases vibration resistance by approximately 300 percent and shock immunity by 400 percent when compared with ultracapacitor-based competitive offerings.

The new device is ideally suited for applications with high shock and vibration environments, including automotive subsystems, wind turbine pitch control, hybrid vehicles, rail, heavy industrial equipment, and UPS and telecom systems.

According to Maxwell, additional key features of the BCAP3400P285K04 include:

  • Up to 1,000,000 duty cycles or 10-year DC life*
  • Highest power and energy
  • Up to 18kW/kg of specific power (typ.)
  • Up to 4.00 Wh of stored energy (typ.)
  • Threaded terminals or laser-weldable posts

*Results may vary.
