Ideally suited for commercial and military S-band radar applications Richardson RFPD Inc. announces full design support capabilities and immediate availability of four new gallium nitride on silicon carbide (GaN on SiC) power amplifiers (PAs) from TriQuint.
The new S-band amplifiers are fabricated on TriQuint’s production 0.25 μm GaN on SiC process (TQGaN25). Covering 2.7 to 3.7 GHz, these amplifiers are ideally-suited for commercial and military S-band applications and can support short pulse and continuous wave (CW) operating conditions. The RF ports have integrated DC blocking capacitors and are fully matched to 50 ohms for simple system integration.
Key features of the new GaN PAs for S-band include:
Part Number Frequency (GHz) Psat (W) Gain (dB) PAE (%) Bias (V / mA) Package ECCN
TGA2583 2.7-3.7 10 33 54 25 / 175 Die 3A001.b.2.a
TGA2585 2.7-3.7 18 33 54 28 / 225 Die 3A001.b.2.a

These new GaN PAs are included in Richardson RFPD's launch of the next generation of the TriQuint GaN Tech Hub, a micro-website featuring the latest news on GaN innovations and product releases from TriQuint. Recent additions to the Tech Hub include a white paper entitled ‘GaN Thermal Analysis for High-Performance Systems’ and a webinar that discusses improved overall system performance using TriQuint’s new GaN products.
The devices are in stock and available for immediate delivery. Richardson RFPD's design advisors provide extensive technical expertise and design-in assistance for TriQuint products, including these four new GaN on SiC power amplifiers for S-band applications.
