Richardson RFPD Inc. announces that it is accepting orders for two new solutions for simplifying next generation Doherty architecture.
Doherty amplifiers have become mainstream as operators drive RF amplifier OEMs to improve efficiency without compromising linearity. The Freescale MMDS20254H Advanced Doherty Alignment Module (ADAM) and the Anaren X3DC23P1S Xinger® III Doherty combiner are unique solutions that greatly simplify Doherty implementation, both symmetric and asymmetric.
The Freescale MMDS20254H was developed to enable accurate alignment of phase and amplitude on the carrier and peaking transistors of Doherty amplifiers. It contains a 90º coupler, digitally selectable phase shifters and step attenuators, and operates from a single 5V supply. The MMDS20254H is suitable for all transmit protocols from 1800 MHz to 2200 MHz, and for amplifiers of at least 1W average power at the antenna. The ADAM's numerous advantages include improved digital pre-distortion (DPD) correction with tighter performance distributions, increased system efficiency, and significant Doherty bandwidth improvement.
Additional key features of the MMDS20254H include:
- Frequency: 1800–2200 MHz
- Maximum RF input power: +25 dBm (CW)
- 0.5 dB step-programmable attenuators with 7.5 dB maximum range
- 7º per bit phase shifters with 49º maximum range
- Supply current: 12 mA
- 50 Ohm operation (no external matching required)
- TTL/CMOS/SPI interface (1.8V, 3.3V logic)
- 32-pin, 6 mm QFN surface mount plastic package
Additional information on Freescale's ADAM devices is available, including development software and a training video (also available with Chinese subtitles).
The Anaren X3DC23P1S is a low profile, high performance Doherty combiner in a new, easy to use, manufacturing-friendly surface mount package. It can be used in high power applications up to 50W and is the latest addition to Richardson RFPD's lineup of Xinger III Doherty combiners.
Additional key features of the X3DC23P1S include:
- Frequency: 2300–2400 MHz
- Return loss: 23 dB (min)
- Insertion loss: 0.16 dB (max)
- Amplitude imbalance: +/-0.35 dB (max)
- Phase imbalance: 90° +/-3.0°
- Size: 0.25" x 0.20" (6.35 mm x 5.08 mm)
