Richardson RFPD, Inc. today announces immediate availability and full design support capabilities for two new converters from Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI). The devices are the latest additions to ADI's extensive range of digital-to-analog (DAC) and analog-to-digital (ADC) converters that are designed to meet a broad array of data conversion challenges and applications, with specifications covering accuracy, resolution, sample rate, bandwidth, power, size and value.
The AD5686RBCPZ-RL7, a member of ADI's nanoDAC+® family, is a low power, quad, 16-bit buffered voltage output DAC. It includes a 2.5 V, 2 ppm/°C internal reference (enabled by default) and a gain select pin giving a full-scale output of 2.5 V (gain = 1) or 5 V (gain = 2). The device operates from a single 2.7 V to 5.5 V supply, is guaranteed monotonic by design, and exhibits less than 0.1% FSR gain error and 1.5 mV offset error performance.
The AD5686RBCPZ-RL7 also incorporates a power-on reset circuit and a RSTSEL pin that ensures the DAC outputs power up to zero scale or midscale and remains there until a valid write takes place. It contains a per-channel power-down feature that reduces the current consumption of the device to 4 μA at 3 V while in power-down mode.
The device employs a versatile SPI interface that operates at clock rates up to 50 MHz and contains a VLOGIC pin intended for 1.8 V/3 V/5 V logic. The DAC is ideally suited for optical transceivers, base-station power amplifiers, process control (PLC I/O cards), industrial automation, and data acquisition systems applications.
Additional key features of the AD5686RBCPZ-RL7 include:
- High relative accuracy: ±2LSB INL max
- Low drift on-chip reference: 2.5 V, 2 ppm/°C temperature drift
- Package: 3mm × 3mm 16-lead LFCSP or 16-lead TSSOP
The AD7988-5BRMZRL7 is a 16-bit, successive approximation, analog-to-digital converters (ADC) that operates from a single power supply, VDD. The device offers 500kSPS throughput and is a low power, 16-bit sampling ADC with a versatile serial interface port. On the CNV rising edge, it samples an analog input IN+ between 0 V to REF with respect to a ground sense IN-.
The reference voltage, REF, is applied externally and can be set independent of the supply voltage, VDD. The SPI-compatible serial interface also features the ability, using the SDI input, to daisy-chain several ADCs on a single, 3-wire bus. It is compatible with 1.8 V, 2.5 V, 3 V, or 5 V logic, using the separate supply VIO.
Additional key features of the AD7988-5BRMZRL7 include:
- Low power dissipation: 3.5 mW @ 500 kSPS
- Wide operating temperature range: −40°C to +125°C
- Package: 10-lead MSOP and 10-lead, 3 mm × 3 mm LFCSP (QFN)
Both devices are part of ADI's Select Products for Q3, 2012.
