ABI Research reports that Chinese handset vendors will account for over 50 percent of mobile handsets in 2015. Chinese vendors already accounted for 38 percent of mobile handset shipments in 2013 and the ongoing shift in growth to low cost handsets, especially smartphones, will increase their market share.

Aeroflex Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Aeroflex Holding Corp., announced that it will demonstrate at Mobile World Congress a system for testing the offload of live data calls between LTE and Wi-Fi.

In 2013 10 percent of the remote controls shipped with major home consumer equipment will be RF-enabled.  Over the next five years there will be a major surge in RF technology adoption for remote controls as vendors look to differentiate their products, and/or drive growth in smart home services.  While at the same time RF solutions continue to fall in price, implementations become more simplified and lower powers are achieved.

The worldwide semiconductor market is expected to grow 3% from 2012 to 2013. There has been sequential market growth from 1Q13 to 2Q13 and the vast majority of the top 20 vendors are expecting 3Q13 to grow revenues again.

Wireline operators have been the largest market for IMS services to date, but due to an increase in the number of mobile IMS deployments, ABI Research forecasts IMS revenues to reach $3.4 billion in the next five years.
