Abstract:

The development of 6G technology is driven by the need to meet the escalating demands for faster, more reliable, and ubiquitous wireless communication. As the digital landscape evolves, new applications are emerging, requiring unprecedented data rates and bandwidth. To achieve these ambitious goals, 6G aims to exploit the sub-THz (terahertz) frequency range, typically from 100 GHz to 300 GHz. These frequencies are crucial for several reasons: high data rates and bandwidth, low latency, and network density. However, utilizing sub-THz frequencies presents significant challenges, including increased path loss, atmospheric absorption, and the need for advanced technologies to manage signal generation, propagation, and reception efficiently.

To address these challenges, load pull measurements become an essential tool in the development and optimization of 6G components and systems. Load pull measurements involve varying the load impedance of a device under test (DUT) to study its performance characteristics under different conditions. This technique helps in: characterizing performance, optimizing efficiency, and improving reliability. By leveraging load pull measurements, researchers and engineers can refine and optimize the critical components required for 6G, ensuring that the technology can meet the high-performance standards necessary for future wireless communication needs.

This webinar will introduce attendees to performing High Power Active and Hybrid-Active Load Pull Measurements at 6G Sub-THz Frequencies.

Speaker Bios:

Giampiero Esposito is the Product Line Manager at Maury Microwave Corporation and is responsible for product line successes including: market intelligence, sales enablement, planning, development, and lifecycle management of products.

He joined the company in October 2012, as an application engineer responsible for product support and has since held various technical, management positions within the company.

Giampiero received the B.E and M.S degree in 2009 in Electrical Engineering from the University of Naples, Italy with an emphasis in RF Microwave. His thesis was performed at University of Delft, the Netherlands, where he developed new techniques for noise parameters characterizations.

With over 15 years at Virginia Diodes, Inc. Cliff Rowland has a strong background in Thz and mmWave hardware and solutions in test & measurement as well as scientific applications.  He currently holds a leadership role as Vice President of Business Development at VDI.
