MWC Las Vegas 2022 Preview – Driving Back to Business

September 6, 2022

After a rough year in 2021 due to COVID, Mobile World Congress Las Vegas makes a full in-person return this year taking place September 28-30 in Las Vegas Convention Center. The theme this year is “Connectivity Unleashed.” The conference has four tracks: GSMA Programs, Partner Programs, Industry City and Tech Talks. The themes include 5G Connect, Cloudnet, Everything Policy, IoT and Tech Horizon. The Keynotes and a couple of selected sessions will be both live and online while the rest of the conference is only available on site.

Keynote 1 is about Connectivity Unleashed taking place on the 28th at 10:00 am. It features speakers from T-Mobile, Verizon, AT&T, Peloton, GSMA and CTIA. Keynote 2 will take place later that afternoon at 4:30 pm entitled, "Viva Tech Vegas" with the mayor and CIO from Las Vegas along with Boingo Wireless and NTT. Keynote 3 is on the 29th at 10:00 am covering "Partnering in a 5G Future" with speakers from Mobilium, AWS, Xsolla and Fase Clan. The GSMA Programs include the eSIM Summit, Open RAN Round Table and Summit, and 5G mmWave Summit.

Among the events sponsors, Verizon will amplify its impact at MWC Las Vegas as Event Partner. T-Mobile for Business will also join us as 5G Connect Event Theme Headline Sponsor. And ServiceNow will focus on disruptive innovation as Tech Horizon Event Theme Headline Sponsor. Leading companies who are sponsoring, exhibiting and participating also include Amdocs; Celona; Cisco; Dell Technologies; Hewlett Packard Enterprise; Kigen, KORE; Kyndryl; Movandi; NoviFlow; Palo Alto Networks; Red Hat; Syniverse; Teal Communications.

One cool feature at the event which I experienced last year was the West Hall is served and connected by the innovative underground transportation system, the Las Vegas Convention Center Loop. It was designed by Elon Musk’s The Boring Company and the system transports convention attendees from one end of the center to the other in under two minutes in Tesla vehicles, free of charge. It was a fun and efficient way to get from one hall to the other (unfortunately, I had not discovered this until my second trip between halls so had to hoof it the first time).
