The International Telecommunication Union’s SmallSat Symposium and Workshop has strengthened cooperation and partnerships in the Americas region.

On 26 February 2016 the International Telecommunication Union group engaged with developing International Mobile Telecommunication systems met to further develop IMT-2020, the standard for 5G mobile systems.

At the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) World Radiocommunication Conference the decision was made that the radio-frequency spectrum needed for the operation of short-range high-resolution automotive radar be allocated in the 79 GHz frequency band.

The Broadband and ICTs for smart, inclusive and sustainable societies event, organised by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the Ministry of Communication of Brazil, outlined the critical role of broadband-enabled services and applications as facilitators for long-term sustainable economic development.
