ADI’s new RF-MEMS switch technology is enabling faster, smaller, lower power, more reliable instrumentation equipment by resolving multiple performance limitations commonly attributed to relays, whose origins date to the earliest days of the electric telegraph.

Guerrilla RF Inc., a leading provider of high performance MMICs, introduces the GRF6011, the first member of the company’s growing list of failsafe switch and amplifier devices. Failsafe refers to the characteristic whereby one switch path defaults to a low loss state, when all power is removed.
A key application for this single-pole, double-throw (SPDT) switch is at the low noise amplifier (LNA) in a tower mounted amplifier (TMA), where this failsafe functionality is typically implemented using expensive mechanical relays or cumbersome Schottky diode switches external to a traditional LNA device

Molex has introduced 4.3-10 RF Connector System and Cable Assemblies that offer high-performance signal transmission with low passive intermodulation (PIM), 100% data traceability and less torque than current interfaces. The solutions include a connector that is 30 percent smaller and 60 percent lighter than DIN 7/16 and a cable assembly with a one-piece, patent-pending weatherproof boot ideal for use on outdoor cellular sites.

Mercury Systems has acquired mission computing company CES Creative Electronic Systems S.A. (CES). The acquisition was completed on November 4, 2016. The addition of CES adds important and complementary capabilities in mission computing, safety-critical avionics and platform management that are in demand from our customers.

Modelithics and KEMET recently collaborated to develop highly accurate measurement based equivalent circuit models for the KEMET CBR RF capacitor series, including EIA case sizes 0201, 0402, 0603, 0805 and 0505. The U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has awarded BAE Systems a $13.3 million contract modification to extend its work on the Adaptive Radar Countermeasures (ARC) project. The new R&S RT-ZP1X passive 1:1 probe from Rohde & Schwarz broadens the application range of its R&S RTO and R&S RTE series oscilloscopes. Both the probe and the oscilloscopes' front-end are extremely low noise, making this combination ideal for measuring the smallest of signals down to 1 mV/div, e.g., for power integrity measurements on integrated circuits and components.

Surfing the wave of the iPhone 7 ramp, Qorvo’s Q2 fiscal 2017 revenue jumped 24 percent sequentially and 22 percent above Q2 of fiscal 2016 to $865 million. Revenue was above the company’s guidance range of $820 million to $850 million. However, poor yields on a low band power amplifier duplexer (PAD) for the iPhone 7 hurt margins: GAAP gross margin was 36.6 percent, down from 39.6 percent in Q1 and 40.2 percent in Q2 of fiscal 2016.
