ADI introduces industry's fastest 18-bit SAR A/D converter

Analog Devices Inc. introduced an 18-bit PulSAR® A/D converter with 5-MSPS throughput that is twice the speed of any available SAR (successive-approximation register) converter. With its industry leading throughput, best-in-class noise floor and high linearity, the AD7960 PulSAR A/D converter was designed for low-power signal chains, multiplexed systems such as digital X-ray, and oversampling applications including spectroscopy, MRI gradient control and gas chromatography.

St. Jude Medical receives European approval for new renal denervation system that greatly reduces total ablation time

St. Jude Medical Inc., a global medical device company, announced the CE Mark approval of its next-generation EnligHTN™ Renal Denervation System for treating patients with drug-resistant, uncontrolled hypertension. The system features an advanced generator that delivers simultaneous ablations via a multi-electrode catheter, reducing total ablation time with the new EnligHTN system by more than 80 percent in comparison to the first generation system, from approximately 24 minutes to four minutes.

Verizon reaches agreement to acquire Vodafone's 45% interest in Verizon Wireless for $130B

Verizon Communications Inc. announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement with Vodafone Group Plc to acquire Vodafone’s U.S. group with the principal asset of 45 percent of Verizon Wireless for $130 billion, consisting primarily of cash and stock. Verizon expects the transaction at close to be immediately accretive to the company’s EPS (earnings per share) by approximately 10 percent, without any one-time adjustments.
