In a first-of-its-kind test for Raytheon Co.'s Accelerated Improved Intercept Initiative system, AI3 destroyed an unmanned aerial system (UAS) in flight. The intercept was part of the second guided test flights for the AI3 program and follows its first in-flight defeat of a 107mm rocket earlier in the test series.

The device is cable-drop compensation capable, easily parallelable for higher current or PCB heat spreading and configurable as a floating 3-terminal regulator.

Exelis has been awarded a foreign military sale contract valued at $115 million to provide an existing international customer with additional communications equipment, spare parts, ancillary devices and operator training.
