Infineon Technologies has started the production of its BGTx0 chipsets for wireless backhaul communication systems. The transceiver family provides a complete radio frequency (RF) front-end for wireless communication in 57-64 GHz, 71-76 GHz, or 81-86 GHz millimeter wave bands. Paired with a baseband/modem, the system solution requires less space, offers improved reliability and lower cost for the critical wireless backhaul links needed in mobile base stations that support LTE/4G networks.

Peregrine Semiconductor Corp., a fabless provider of high-performance radio frequency integrated circuits (RFICs), is receiving early reports from NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center that its UltraCMOS®-based power management solution is delivering uninterrupted high performance while meeting the radiation-hardened and extreme-temperature requirements at the International Space Station. 

Radio Frequency Systems (RFS), the global wireless and broadcast infrastructure specialist, announced that its products will be used by Transit Wireless to support the architecture for Phase 2 of its extensive project to bring a distributed antenna system (DAS) to the New York Citysubway system.

Linear Technology Corp. introduces the LTC2338-18, an 18-bit 1 Msps no latency analog-to-digital converter (ADC) with a wide ±10.24 V fully differential, true bipolar input range for high voltage, industrial applications. The device operates from a single 5V supply, achieves 100 dB SNR and -110 dB THD and features an internal 2.048 V (20 ppm/°C max) reference and reference buffer. An input divider network scales and level shifts the input signal, eliminating complicated circuitry required to directly interface true bipolar signals. 

AEM Inc. announces that it is a recipient of a 2012 Boeing Gold Performance Excellence Award. AEM maintained a Gold composite performance rating for quality and delivery for the twelve month period from October 1, 2011 to September 30, 2012. This year, Boeing recognized 594 suppliers who achieved either a Gold or Silver level Boeing Performance Excellence Award. AEM is one of only 153 suppliers to receive the Gold level of recognition achieving this status for four consecutive years.

RFMW Ltd. announces immediate availability for Carlisle Interconnect Technologies WMP series of sub-miniature, blind-mate interconnect solutions. Skyworks Solutions Inc. introduces four linear power amplifiers for LTE and WCDMA applications. The fully matched surface mount SKY66001-11 (2110 to 2170 MHz), SKY66002-11 (1900 to 2025 MHz), SKY66005-11 (850 to 920 MHz) and SKY66008-11 (900 to 990 MHz) modules meet the stringent spectral linearity requirements of femtocell applications with high power-added efficiency. An integrated directional coupler eliminates the need for any external coupler.

Richardson RFPD Inc. announces immediate availability and full design support capabilities for a new ultra-wideband, SMA-connectorized Bias-T from Wavelex.

Carrier Wi-Fi started to gain momentum in 2013 driven by increasing data demands and new Wi-Fi advancements. Cable operators are enthusiastically adopting the technology as an entrance into the wireless market. ABI Research forecasts Carrier Wi-Fi access point shipments in 2018 to reach 9.7 million with the Asia-Pacific region accounting for 70 percent of that number.
