AWR Corp. in partnership with parent company National Instruments teamed with Texas Tech University to supply Microwave Office® RF/microwave software for use in a cancer research project that resulted in the invention of the revolutionary Smart Radar for non-invasively tracking tumors during radiation therapy.

Pulse Electronics Corp., a leading provider of electronic components, introduces a new VDSL2 30MHz transformer that is compliant for use with the Lantiq Vinax V3 chipset family. The BX4290LNL and BX4290LNLT transformers are used with the Class AB line driver to deliver high bandwidth over existing copper transmission lines. These transformers have improved longitudinal balance and provide excellent total harmonic distortion performance on a very compact platform. 

Hittite Microwave Corp. announced a new Gallium Nitride (GaN) MMIC power amplifier product which offers significant performance, size and durability advantages for communications, test instrumentation and radar systems operating in the 6 to 18 GHz frequency range.

TFT-LFcables from Times Microwave Systems are an alternative low cost solution compared to semi-flexible (solder braid) coax and RG type coax for RF interconnects in applications up to 3 GHz.

The article covers how China Mobile is driving the industry to massive deployment of active antenna systems (AAS) solutions, as well as the application of simple AAS solutions in frequency-division duplexing (FDD) communications for crowded, urban areas. The article concludes with Mobile Experts' forecast of a 40 percent average market growth for AAS during the next five years.

Custom MMIC, a developer of performance-driven monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMICs), is introducing a new 6-20 GHz Low-Noise Amplifier to its growing product library, the CMD194C3. The new packaged broadband amplifier offers low noise figure and high gain while requiring a single-supply voltage.
