Anritsu, Qualcomm demo LTE-A Cat 6 peak data rates of 300 Mbps

Anritsu Co. announces it has worked with Qualcomm Technologies Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of Qualcomm Inc., to successfully demonstrate peak throughput for a Category 6 LTE device and network simulator using 20+20 MHz carrier aggregation (CA). The two companies have jointly performed tests with a device based on the new Qualcomm® Gobi™ 9x35 modem, the world’s first LTE Advanced World Mode Category 6 chipset solution.

NV selected as UAV development center

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced that Nevada has been selected as one of six locations to be a center for unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) development in the United States. As a UAV development site, the most likely economic forecast shows that there could be thousands of jobs for UAS direct employees with an average wage of approximately $62,000; an estimated $2.5 billion in economic impact in present dollars; and an estimated $125 million in annual state and local tax revenue.

Mindspeed to sell assets of its wireless infrastructure unit to Intel

Mindspeed Technologies Inc., a leading supplier of semiconductor solutions for network infrastructure, announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to sell the assets of its wireless infrastructure business unit to Intel Corp. The asset sale was contemplated by the agreement and plan of merger with M/A-COM Technology Solutions Holdings Inc., announced on November 5, 2013.
