Freescale Semiconductor introduced two new broadband RF power amplifiers - the new Airfast AFIC901N LDMOS RF integrated device and the AFT05MS003N LDMOS transistor. The products can be operated at 3.6 or 7.5 V and are targeted for applications where power for radio range and efficiency for battery life are key design requirements. 

HYPERLABS has added S-parameter capabilities (S11, S21) to Version 2.0 of its XTDR™ software. These features complement the existing time domain features (TDR, TDT, NEXT, and FEXT) already found in the HL2200 and HL5200 Series Signal Path Analyzers. 

According to ABI Research the increasing adoption of IoT within industrial settings will result in a substantial growth of the number of connected industrial devices, in particular industrial control devices like PLCs. The research firm estimates that over the period from 2014 to 2020, the number of connected industrial controllers will triple; growing at an average rate of 20 percent.

Southwest Microwave Inc., a leading global supplier of high performance interconnect solutions, has announced the introduction of a new range of high-security SMKey 3.7 mm DC to 18 GHz Keyed Coax Connectors, which provide a failsafe mating solution for critical connections between mated connector pairs.

Through its Isolink subsidiary, Skyworks introduces a low-loss, high performance wideband DC to 6 GHz hermetic GaAs IC single-pole, single-throw (SPST) non-reflective switch.

Bird Technologies introduced the Channel Power Monitor, a compact rack-mount system that in conjunction with Bird sensors monitors each radio, power combiner, transmission line, and antenna in an analog or digital land-mobile radio system operating between 144 and 960 MHz.

Microsemi announces the AML218P4013, a new GaN power amplifier product supplied in a compact hermetic 3.5" x 1.9" x 0.45" connectorized module housing.

Europe reached a major milestone on the road towards 5G with the launch of the first phase projects of the European 5G Public Private Partnership (5G-PPP) on 1 July 2015. Huawei is a key contributor to this joint effort. The 5G-PPP initiative is expected to leverage a total of €3.5 billion in private investment, boosted by €700 million in EU funding.
