IMS2010, the annual conference and exhibition of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Microwave Theory and Techniques Society (MTT-S), attracted thousands of designers, researchers, developers, academics and executives in the microwave and RF industry to the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, CA, May 23-28. Based on preliminary attendance numbers, more than 9,500 participants attended IMS2010 in Anaheim as of Wednesday, May 26th. The exhibit floor has seen tremendous activity, where 556 companies in 892 booths were represented by nearly 40 countries and the plenary session with the Honorable Zachary J. Lemnios, Director of Defense Research and Engineering (DDR&E) for the United States Department of Defense, drew a large crowd. The technical sessions have also seen expanded attendance as well.
“We’re pleased to see the increase in attendance this year, this is an excellent year for IMS,” said JK McKinney, General Chair, IMS2010 and President of Dura Sales of Southern California. “We see this as a good sign of economic recovery, and are thrilled with the amount of traffic and renewed enthusiasm the conference has received.”
Based on preliminary data, technical registration numbers totaled 2,793 participants and exhibit-only registration numbers indicate 2,687 participants. IMS2010 included 63 new exhibiting companies. Initial results show the total number of IMS2010 participants, including exhibitor booth staff and guests, amounted to over 9,500 attendees, a seven percent increase over 2009 participation. In addition, this year’s technical sessions included 250 technical papers, which were presented orally in roughly 60 sessions focusing on a variety of industry topics. A total of 858 technical papers were submitted at this year’s conference, representing countries from around the world. IMS2011 will be held June 5-10, 2011, at the Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore, MD.
