EADS Defence & Security (DS) has been selected to deliver digital TETRA radio communication coverage for Line 2 of the Shenyang Metro in North East China. This contract follows the previous successful delivery of an EADS TETRA system for metro Line 1. Shenyang Metro is a key project in the 11th five-year plan of the Liaoning province, and it is to become the first metro in the province and in Northeast China.
As the system supplier, EADS DS will provide 20 additional TB3 TETRA base stations and five dispatcher stations, fully integrated into the existing TETRA system. In addition, 430 TETRA radios will be delivered. The company will install the equipment and also provide training and technical support services. At the same time, it will join forces with the system integrator, Shenyang Neusoft Co. Ltd., to develop data applications that use the TETRA system and meet the special needs of metro operations. Deliveries will begin in the 3rd quarter of 2010 and the commencement of service is expected to be at the end of 2011.
