EADS Defence & Security (DS) and its strategic partner, China Electronic Science and Technology Group Corp. No. 7 Research Institute (CETC-7 Ltd.), have been awarded a contract to jointly provide a TETRA radio communication system for the Guangzhou municipal government. Users of the EADS radio communication system will include the Guangzhou municipal government, traffic police, armed police, the city administration and the Asian Games Committee.
The system, which comprises two DXTip switches, a large number of TB3 base stations and a dispatching system, will provide secure radio communications for more than 60,000 users over an area of more than 7,000 square kilometers in the city. It will also offer secure communication services for the 16th Asian Games to be held in November 2010.
“We are very honored and proud that the Guangzhou government has chosen EADS Defence & Security. Asian Games is an important event, and we are confident that the success of our digital trunked network during the Beijing Olympics and during the 60th anniversary celebration of the People’s Republic of China can be repeated in Guangzhou,” said François Begaud, head of secure networks in Asia Pacific. “This new contract, together with the recent selection of our TETRA system for the Shenzhen police, highlights the fact that our proven TETRA system is the preferred solution in China.”
