Hittite Microwave Corp., a supplier of complete MMIC-based solutions for communication and military markets, has launched a new family of 20 Gbps Clocked Comparators that offer a unique combination of low propagation delay for low input overdrive while minimizing propagation dispersion and power dissipation. The HMC874LC3C, HMC875LC3C and HMC876LC3C are ideal for digital receivers, clock and data signal restoration, pulse spectroscopy, high speed instrumentation, medical imaging & diagnostics, and industrial systems.
The HMC874LC3C, HMC875LC3C and HMC876LC3C are SiGe monolithic, ultra fast Clocked Comparators that feature high speed latches with programmable hysteresis, and reduced swing PECL/CML/ECL output drivers, respectively. The HMC874LC3C, HMC875LC3C and HMC876LC3C achieve 25 Gbps operation with reduced output voltage swing while providing 120 ps clock to data output delay. Minimum pulse width is typically 60 ps, and random jitter (RJ) is specified at only 0.2 ps rms.
The HMC874LC3C, HMC875LC3C and HMC876LC3C are unique in the market today, offering 20 Gbps speed at 150 mW, which represents 50 percent less power than traditional comparator solutions. This family of comparators is ideal for Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) and medical imaging applications where high speed, high performance and low power are critical requirements. Common mode input voltage range is specified at ± 2V, and typical overdrive and slew rate dispersion are less than 10 ps.
Housed in compact ceramic RoHS compliant 3x3 mm SMT packages and specified for operation from -40° to +85°C, the HMC874LC3C, HMC875LC3C and HMC876LC3C Clocked Comparators complement the previously released HMC674LC3C, HMC675LC3C and HMC676LC3C level latched comparators, with which they are pin-compatible.
