RFaxis, a fabless semiconductor company focused on innovative, next-generation RF solutions for the wireless and connectivity markets, announced that Helicomm Inc. has chosen RFaxis' RF Front-end Integrated Circuits (RFeIC) and embedded antennas for integration into its family of Zigbee and other wireless networking modules.
Headquartered in San Diego, CA, with wholly owned subsidiaries in Beijing, China, and Taipei, Taiwan, Helicomm is a provider of voice and data wireless networks to improve tracking, management and communication through wireless networking solutions built upon Zigbee for reliable, secure, low-power, cost-effective wireless networks. Helicomm's networking solutions provide customers the quickest and easiest way to integrate wireless networking into their products and systems. According to C.C. Huang, Helicomm's CTO, "We are impressed by RFaxis' next-generation wireless solutions that combine all of the functionality of traditional RF front-end modules into a single-chip, single-die device with superior performance. This breakthrough places RFaxis on the leading edge of technology, and makes them a great fit to help us provide our customers with truly innovative Zigbee and other wireless communication solutions."
RFaxis' single-chip, single-die, RFeICs are poised to replace conventional larger, multi-die front-end modules. Leveraging BiCMOS technology, RFaxis' chips are designed to reduce the complexity of wireless designs, lower manufacturing costs via a smaller footprint and reduced bill of materials cost, accelerate time to market, provide superior performance for a competitive advantage, and are ultra low power to offer improved power efficiency over conventional front-end module technologies.
"Helicomm has been an industry innovator for years," said Mike Neshat, President and CEO of RFaxis. "Their solutions provide a combination of functionality, distributed application processing, wireless networking, and local to wide area network connectivity, giving them a distinct competitive edge. We are excited to be working together with Helicomm to provide complete solutions that are tailored to meet both market and customer requirements."
Pre-production of Helicomm's solutions utilizing RFaxis' RFeICs will begin in Q4 2009, with full production commencing in Q1 2010.
