A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed by L-3 Communications' subsidiary Integrated Systems (L-3/IS), QinetiQ and QinetiQ Inc., to collaborate on technology development around Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance (ISTAR) and ISR programs of mutual interest.
The MoU aims to capitalize on the expertise in this field of both organizations. QinetiQ's experience lies in developing advanced defense technology products such as sensors and knowledge and information systems, which support ISTAR and ISR, while L-3/IS is experienced in the planning and insertion of advanced technologies for such programs. This includes providing operational domain expertise, systems engineering, integration of advanced technology sensors and mission systems, and platform integration for ISTAR and ISR capabilities.
"QinetiQ brings planning and development of technology products for knowledge and information systems plus sensors to the partnership," said Steve Brittan, managing director of QinetiQ's Spectrum Solutions Division commented. "This MoU will enable both parties to offer customers significant value in advancing ISTAR and ISR capabilities for the defense departments of the United States, the United Kingdom and other close allies."
