The Strategy Analytics RF and Wireless Components research service released, “PA Market Growth of 12.6 Percent Helps Propel TriQuint to Third in Share,” examining changes in the cellphone power amplifier industry and in vendor market share.

“The growth of cellphone shipments in 2007 coupled with consolidation boosted the sales and market shares of almost all PA suppliers in 2007. However, TriQuint turned in the most impressive growth, gaining almost 5 percentage points of share,” stated Chris Taylor, director of RF and Wireless Components at Strategy Analytics.

“The combined share of leaders RFMD and Skyworks slipped slightly, but their strengths in PA-related R&D, design, manufacturing and experience in multiple cellphone platforms across virtually all OEMs will help them to regain any lost share this year and next, keeping the pressure on lower-share suppliers,” added Asif Anwar, director of the GaAs and Compound Semiconductor program of Strategy Analytics.
