Herley Industries Inc. announced that it has received an option award exceeding $3.5 M to supply Tactical Instrument Landing Systems (TILS) for both the F/A-18E/F/G and E-2D Naval aircraft. The AN/ARA-63 TILS is a microwave landing system that provides precise elevation and azimuth guidance information necessary for critical aircraft carrier landings.
Myron Levy, Herley's Chairman and CEO, stated, "The Tactical Instrument Landing System began as an initial multi-year contract for the F/A-18E/F Boeing 'Super Hornet' and is being expanded to cover the E/A-18G 'Growler' jammer aircraft and the E-2D 'Advanced Hawkeye' radar surveillance aircraft. This is the third award against the five-year contract for Herley, and the second of the four option years."
Levy continued, "This is truly a legacy program for the company. When we acquired Stewart Warner, George Rounsaville, of our Chicago office, had already been managing the AN/ARA-63 program for more than 20 years. Herley has been successfully producing the TILS since the Stewart Warner acquisition in 1995, and I am pleased to say that George is still managing the program."
