Fox Electronics announced that the low levels of jitter and high performance features in its XpressO voltage-controlled crystal oscillators (VCXO) make it possible for more information to be transmitted than with traditional programmable oscillators.
This high rate of data transfer can directly affect the bottom line of service providers such as cell phone and cable companies, whose success is dependent on their ability to send and receive information.
The high performance XpressO family of VCXO oscillators is available in LVDS and LVPECL versions, and costs 30 percent less than traditional LVDS/LVPECL quartz oscillators. The new oscillators employ noise reducing DSM technology and proprietary low-noise architecture to decrease jitter and phase noise. Their revolutionary design and application specific integrated circuits (ASIC) allow for accurate performance, decreased costs, shorter lead times and increased flexibility.
Available package sizes for the 3.3 V XpressO oscillators are 7.5 x 5.0 mm and 5.0 x 3.2 mm. Because pricing does not vary depending on package size, there is no price increase for purchasing a smaller package.
These new XpressO oscillators have a frequency range from 1.0 MHz to 1.1 GHz and stabilities as tight as ±20 ppm. Next day shipment is offered for samples and within 10 days for production quantities.
Pricing for XpressO VCXOs will vary depending on the output, frequency and stability needed. A 3.3 V, 50 ppm APR, LVDS/LVPECL, 212.5 MHz oscillator costs $5.17 each in quantities of 1,000.
