Quectel Wireless Solutions, a global IoT solutions provider, is exhibiting at CES 2025 with their full range of Quectel products and services at LVCC, North Hall – 9863. Among the new products are the compact LS550G GNSS module (available in Q2 2025), five new short-range modules and three new antennas.
LS550G
The LS550G is an ultra-compact multi-constellation GNSS module engineered for fast and accurate positioning. With its 5 x 5 x 1.05 mm form factor, the LS550G is the ideal solution for power- and space-sensitive applications, especially those that require very thin modules including portable and wearable devices.
The LS550G GNSS module supports concurrent reception of GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BDS, QZSS and SBAS constellations, enhancing satellite visibility, reducing time to first fix and improving positioning accuracy, particularly in dense urban environments. Equipped with dual integrated LNA, TCXO and RTC, the module offers high sensitivity, enabling accurate positioning, fast acquisition and reliable performance even in challenging conditions.
The system-in-package (SIP) technology minimizes the module’s size, delivering an ultra-compact form factor. This design not only saves space but also reduces signal attenuation, minimizes interference, moisture ingress and corrosion and enhances shock resistance.
“The LS550G exemplifies our commitment to innovation in GNSS technology, offering exceptional performance in an ultra-compact form factor,” said Norbert Muhrer, president and CSO, Quectel Wireless Solutions. “With its multi-constellation support and advanced SIP design, the LS550G is the ideal solution for applications requiring high accuracy, low power and compact form factor even in the most challenging environments.”
Short-Range Modules
Designed to give developers and designers a broad range of options as they create innovative devices and applications for the market, five new modules were unveiled at CES. These new models include the FGM840R standalone Wi-Fi and Bluetooth combo module, the high-power Wi-Fi HaLow FGH100M-H, the Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4 FCS962N-LP, the Wi-Fi7 and Bluetooth 5.4 FME170Q-865, and finally the Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3 FCU865R. In addition, the previously launched FCS866R module has been enhanced through the incorporation of LE Audio and Auracast functionality. With these latest additions, Quectel continues to expand its portfolio, empowering developers to deliver innovative solutions across a wide range of IoT applications.
“As more and more IoT use cases and devices come to market, it’s important that developers and designers have the widest possible choice of modules to ensure they can create devices at the size, power consumption, performance and cost that supports their use cases most closely,” commented Muhrer. “Quectel sees the ability to offer versatile devices that combine technologies, compact form factors, security, durability and performance as critical enablers for customers in their efforts to build a smarter world.”
The Quectel FGM840R is a standalone Wi-Fi and Bluetooth combo module that features a built-in Cortex M33 and M23 dual-core processor with the main core frequency up to 200 MHz. The module supports Wi-Fi4 and BLE 5.0, offering 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz dual bands and built-in memory of 512 KB RAM and 4 MB Flash. Compliant with the WPA-PSK, WPA2-PSK and WPA3-SAE security standards, the Quectel FGM840R supports security features such as TrustZone, Secure Boot at Flash encryption.
Measuring 12.5 x 13.2 x 2.05 mm, the Quectel FGM840R supports up to 20 GPIO interfaces which can be multiplexed as UART, SPI, I2C, ADC, PWM, SDIO and USB functions. This provides great flexibility and versatility so the module can be utilized in a wide range of use cases, including smart home and industrial IoT scenarios. In addition to Wi-Fi and BLE connectivity, the FGM840R, when paired with a USB ethernet controller, can also support an RJ45 interface.
The Quectel FGH100M-H is a high-power variant of the previously announced Quectel FGH100M Wi-Fi HaLow module. The Quectel FGH100M-H operates in the 902 to 928 MHz frequency band with a channel width of 1,2,4 or 8 MHz. The module’s maximum physical data rate is 32.5 Mbps and maximum transmit power is 27 dBm.
Based on the sub-1 GHz frequency band, the module offers greater coverage and penetration and can extend the reach of smart home or smart city networks so users can control IoT devices within a radius of 1 km. The Quectel FGH100M-H’s ultra-compact package size of 13.0 x 13.0 x 2.2 mm helps designers and developers optimize the end product size and design cost.
Antennas
The new additions to the Quectel antenna portfolio include the YEGN103W8A active GNSS antenna, the YECT004W1A 5G terminal mount external dipole antenna and the YFTA009E3AM passive L-Band, GNSS and Iridium antenna.
“We continually bring new additions to our comprehensive portfolio of antennas to ensure device designers and developers can find the ideal antenna to match their project needs,” commented Muhrer. “These new antennas bring greater choice to customers who can also take advantage of our custom antenna solutions to get to market faster.”
