Here are Swami Hindle's 2024 industry predictions:
- RedCap and NTN ill take off with numerous applications expanding the capabilities of 5G applications
- 6G research will also take off in sub-THz and joint communications/sensing as two areas of focus
- FR3 (7-24 GHz) will get much attention for 6G and become the main focus for future bands and regulation
- AI/ML will find many uses in RF and microwave technology from being widely used in EDA tools to software defined radios and optimization of circuits
- RF GaN will hit new power density records with the use of super heat sinking materials and substrates. The first 200 V RF GaN will become available.
- Heterogenous integration will be the buzzword of the semiconductor industry and take off in RF applications - best junction for the function!
- Software Defined Radios will become the prevalent technology for communications and EW in the A&D space
- Quantum computing is too expensive for companies to have their own so quantum as a service will take off bringing it to the masses
- India will represent the fastest growing market for RF components and engineers
