Verus® Research, a New Mexico-based team of scientists and engineers specializing in advanced research and development, announced it has been awarded a Phase I Small Business Innovative Research contract from the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) for “Optimized Waveforms for X-Band Missile-Defense Radars.”  Through the effort, Verus Research will research and develop X-Band waveforms that are both producible and optimal for missile-defense applications by leveraging current state-of-the-art technologies in commercially available radar electronics.

“We are honored to receive our very first contract with the MDA,” said Dr. J Mark DelGrande, chief technology officer at Verus Research. “With our extensive background in high-power microwave effects modeling and simulation, test and assessment, we are confident that we will produce meaningful solutions for the MDA. It is exciting to see new customers come to Verus Research for the creation of novel solutions that matter.”

The program will develop bench-top hardware-in-the-loop simulator architectures which incorporate state-of-the-art physics-based models. The architectures will then test, validate and quantify the performance of novel radar waveforms in simulated operational environments during many-on-many engagement interaction scenarios.
