Sivers Semiconductors recently made two announcements: Pelle Wijk will be appointed managing director of Sivers Wireless in Sweden, and Sivers Photonics has received a new optical sensing order from a current Fortune 100 customer.
Wijk was most recently at Imagination Technologies, formerly Kisel Microelectronics, where he was CEO before Kisel was acquired by Imagination in 2014. He has more than 15 years of experience in leadership and chip development, beginning his career at Ericsson, where he worked for eight years.
“Sivers Semiconductors is entering the next phase, and I can now focus even more on leading the group. Our near-term focus is the move to Nasdaq’s main list," said Anders Storm, CEO of Sivers Semiconductors. "It is therefore very gratifying that we have succeeded in hiring a very competent and experienced leader in silicon and chip development for Sivers Wireless.”
Wijk said, “It is a great honor to get the opportunity to take Sivers Wireless forward in this exciting phase. The company has a world-leading position in chips and RF modules for mmWave 5G solutions.”
Photonics Order
Sivers Photonics, a Sivers Semiconductors subsidiary, has received an order for semiconductor laser devices from one of its current Fortune 100 customers. The order, worth approximately SEK11 million ($1.3 million), covers several parallel projects for design, development and supply of semiconductor laser devices for advanced optical sensing applications.
Sivers Photonics has been working with this customer on various projects for about 28 months, with the last orders, from June and October 2020, completed before the end of 2020. The new projects will be delivered and billed during the first half of 2021.
“This is a tremendous start to 2021 for our photonics business and a confirmation of the great work achieved by the Sivers Photonics team. We successfully delivered upon design and development work with this strategic customer during 2020 and are delighted to have received this new order, which will support further development and scale-up activities in 2021. This contract is the result of the excellent partnership between both companies and their continued confidence in our team and technology,” said Storm.
