AVX Corp. introduced new 0805-case BP Series multilayer, integrated thin film (ITF) bandpass filters. Designed for broad compatibility with a wide range of high frequency wireless applications, including mobile communications systems, satellite TV receivers, GPSs, vehicle-locating systems and wireless LANs, the series is available in five frequency bands spanning 1308 to 4320 MHz with 50 Ω characteristic impedance and is rated for 5 W continuous power and operating temperatures spanning -40°C to +85°C. The new surface-mount bandpass filters also exhibit low insertion loss and sharp roll-off, delivering excellent high frequency performance in an ultraminiature, low-profile case measuring just 2.03 mm x 1.55 mm x 0.8 mm (±0.1 mm), and are ruggedly constructed and packaged on tape and reel for reliable automatic assembly.
“Our new high performance, integrated thin film bandpass filters provide wireless systems engineers with peak performance and quality in an ultraminiature 0805 chip size especially designed for the smaller and more crowded PCBs that next-generation wireless electronics are based on,” said Larry Eisenberger, principal technical marketing engineer at AVX. “Initial releases have been well received, and plans to extend this range of high performance filters to cover the 1 to 5 GHz range are already in the works.”
The new ultraminiature BP0805 Series ITF band-pass filters are available in five frequency values designed for use in five frequency bands: 1308 MHz for 1220 to 1420 MHz; 1457 MHz for 1447 to 1467 MHz; 1795 MHz for 1785 to 1805 MHz; 2160 MHz for 1960 to 2360 MHz and 4320 MHz for 4120 to 4520 MHz. They have nickel/lead-free-solder coated (Sn100) terminations compatible with reflow, wave, vapor phase and manual soldering technologies, are RoHS compliant and are 100 percent tested for electrical parameters and both visual and mechanical characteristics.
