Vaunix Technology Corporation recently produced an insightful technical brief discussing the use of modular test equipment with RF testing of military radar.
Commercial and military aircraft radar have steadily increased in complexity year-over-year. Furthermore, recent years have seen a dramatic rise in the use of radar and the implementation of more advanced radar features. For Air Traffic Control (ATC) and Interference Friend of Foe (IFF) radar, among others, these trends have also lead to the necessity for more complex radar test systems. Typically, these test systems are expensive, have a high learning curve, are hard to troubleshoot/debug and are often challenging to reconfigure and retrofit to meet current needs.
The tech brief from Vaunix, “Modular Test Approaches for SSR Signal Analysis in IFF Applications,” further discusses these challenges. This complimentary tech brief also covers examples of how modular and USB-based RF test equipment can be leveraged to provide enhanced test reconfigurability. Aside from saving on costs upfront and over time, the tech brief demonstrates how modular test equipment can save during RF test process development, test control and adapting to future RF tests requirements for complex radar systems.
