Vaunix Technology Corporation, a manufacturer of USB controlled and powered test equipment, announces a new digital attenuator added to their family of USB- powered, programmable digital attenuators for RF automated test equipment, affordable RF test, and research/education applications. These attenuators offer cost-effective solutions for high density attenuation, fading simulation, mobile wireless/wireless telecommunications, MIMO, DVB, WiMAX, and other applications which benefit from low-cost yet quality performance multi-channel digital attenuators.
Capable of bidirectional fixed attenuation, swept attenuation ramps, and fading profiles, the Vaunix LDA-602Q provides up to 120 dB of control range with a 0.1 dB step size from 200 MHz to 6 GHz. Each RF port of this device has a 50 ohm impedance with a typical VSWR of 1.3:1. Fast switching speeds of 15 microsecond typical can be expected. The maximum input level is beyond 28 dBm with an input IP3 of over 55 dBm.
The LDA-602Q unit is compact, fitting into a single standard rack unit with well-spaced 50 Ohm SMA female connectors for each RF port. Additionally, the only power and control connection is from a standard USB type-B female. Two counter-bore holes are providing for efficient mounting and placement. The 4-channel digital attenuator is designed to operate reliably from -10°C to 50°C.
The Lab Brick LDA series of digital attenuators comes complete with a fully programmable GUI application that can operate multiple attenuator devices directly from a PC or self-powered USB hub. Moreover, Vaunix supplies LabVIEW drivers, Windows API DLL files, and a Linux driver, complete with instruction manuals, for applications that require deeper customization.
