Swedish company Sivers IMA announced that the company is developing a SiGe transceiver for applications in the 57 to 71 GHz frequency range. The RFIC, which will be packaged in a 7x7 mm embedded wafer-level ball grid array, will be sampled to key customers during Q1 of 2017. The RFIC was designed in SiGe to keep cost low, making it attractive for use in point-to-point links.
Anders Storm, CEO of Sivers IMA, said, “We are proud to announce that we are the first in the world to include coverage of the new FCC V-Band frequencies, 64 to 71 GHz, which was recently made available in the United States. Having the full transceiver in SiGe for V-band, provides a fundamental platform, including the relevant building blocks, for our ongoing development of the WiGig RFIC, that will be released to the market in 2017.”
Formed in 1951, Sivers IMA is a publicly traded company developing and manufacturing advanced millimeter wave products. The firm’s headquarters and manufacturing are based in Stockholm, with an R&D and sales facility in Gothenburg.
