Rohde & Schwarz has successfully demonstrated the performance of the next-generation of Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ LTE modems with three LTE-Advanced demonstrations made publicly available for the first time. Working closely with Qualcomm Technologies, a subsidiary of Qualcomm, Incorporated, the first public demonstrations featured as part of QTI's recent Redefining Connectivity event in Beijing and its product showcase during Computex in Taipei.
The test set up utilized two R&S CMW500 wideband radio communication testers and R&S CMWC multi-CMW controller. Demonstrations included the first live demonstration of uplink Carrier Aggregation (CA) on a commercial modem chipset, the Snapdragon X12 LTE modem, showcasing a doubling of LTE TDD upload speeds in UL/DL configuration 1, where the R&S CMW500 was used as an eNode B simulator. Enhanced uplink throughput supports faster sharing of high-quality photos and videos, and faster file uploads to cloud storage.
There was also the first live demonstration of Category 9 LTE-Advanced three component CA (3xCA) on a commercial device powered by the Snapdragon 810 processor with X10 LTE; the demonstration showed peak LTE TDD download speeds of up to 320 Mbps utilizing the R&S CMW500 for real internet connection.
Finally, there was also the first live demonstration of the Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 425 processor with X8 LTE, showcasing Category 6 LTE-Advanced two component CA (2xCA), doubling LTE download speeds up to 300 Mbps, and bringing premium-tier quality performance to high volume mobile devices.
