Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, has been awarded a five-year agreement by Vodafone to expand the Single Radio Access Network (SingleRAN) for its ‘Project Spring’ Phase 1 programme.
Under this programme, Huawei will deliver a number of network enhancement projects including both products and services for Vodafone radio access networks in 15 countries including the UK, Germany, Italy, Spain, Romania, Czech Republic, Hungary, Greece, Turkey, Egypt, South Africa, Mozambique, Lesotho, DRC and Ghana.
These projects will use Huawei’s innovative SingleRAN solutions and beamforming Active Antenna System to expand and strengthen Vodafone’s mobile coverage, enhance customer experience and improve operational efficiency. Huawei’s SingleRAN solutions will allow the operator to support wireless communications services on a single network infrastructure, under multiple mobile communications standards (2G, 3G, and LTE), while the beamforming Active Antenna System will greatly simplify the antenna deployment and improve data throughput performance.
Huawei rotating CEO, Eric Xu, said: "Huawei is honoured to have been entrusted by Vodafone with this global project. Over the last few years, together with Vodafone, we have successfully demonstrated the performance, reliability and efficiency of Huawei’s SingleRAN solutions. We look forward to working on this extension of our long-standing strategic relationship, which reflects the increasing demand for high-quality mobile broadband networks we are seeing globally as 4G grows in popularity. We believe our innovative technology helps our customers accelerate the transformation of the mobile broadband experience they offer both to consumers and enterprises."
