LPKF is one of the leading providers of laser systems for the production of electronic components world-wide. Approx. 70 percent of the company's profits are generated in Asia. In addition to China and Taiwan, South Korea is also one of the laser specialist's most important markets.
While LPKF already has seven service and sales subsidiaries in China, distributors have been supplying South Korea so far. Due to the growth in business, this next step will provide direct access to the South Korean market.
"We already have an installed base of over 300 LPKF systems in South Korea," explains Dr. Ingo Bretthauer, CEO at LPKF AG. "From 2014 onwards, we will be able to attend to our clients' needs on-site with our own service and sales employees."
Bretthauer has already found a managing director for the new subsidiary. Peter Birkner will be responsible for the company's expansion in Seoul. Prior to this, Birkner successfully headed the restructuring of customer service as well as on-site sales support for a German solar company in South Korea. The goal is to have about 20 qualified service and sales employees at the new offices by the end of next year.
South Korea is one of the 20 most important economies worldwide. The peninsular nation specializes in the manufacturing of technology products and cars.
