Leading high frequency electromagnetic (EM) software provider Sonnet Software Inc. introduces Blink™, the first multi-solver passive device modeling suite, now available for purchase. Blink operates entirely from within the Cadence® Virtuoso® environment and is used for the analysis of on-chip passive devices such as spiral inductors and MIM capacitors.
Designers can focus their efforts on speed and accuracy with Blink's two full-wave EM solvers, where they can choose from Sonnet’s traditional shielded method-of-moments (MoM) solver, and the new fast solver.
"Blink is what the market needs today," said James Rautio, president & CEO of Sonnet. "This new tool gives IC and Package designers the confidence and speed they need for modeled devices all within one package. Coupled with Sonnet's unparalleled customer support, Blink is an indispensable tool for the modern designer."
Blink allows high frequency silicon circuit designers to include their stack up and PDK information in EM analysis with just a few button clicks. With Blink, IC designers now have an automated way to access EM analysis of passive RFIC devices without limiting them to any specific PDK. The new product automates the process of setting up EM simulations of passive integrated circuit devices including center-tapped spiral inductors.
IC Designers can also benefit by using both solvers on a single device. During an initial or prototyping stage, IC Designers can first model their passive device using the fast mode. After a number of iterations to satisfy design criteria, the IC designer can then switch to the accurate mode and model their passive device in a final or verification stage for sign-off to achieve first pass Silicon success.
