The NGMN Alliance officially welcomes BT, SingTel, Tele2, Turkcell, VimpelCom, Broadcom and University of Toronto, which have all recently joined NGMN. With these new partners, the NGMN Alliance membership base now comprises 22 global mobile network operators, 33 major telecom vendors and 12 international research institutions.
The recent launch of the new NGMN work programme found industry-wide recognition and attracted these Partners which have already committed significant resources to the ongoing projects. Key activities that NGMN is currently focusing on are the projects Mobile Content Delivery Optimisation, Next Generation Converged Operation Requirements, RAN Evolution and Small Cells.
Peter Meissner, operating officer of the NGMN Alliance, underlined the importance of the substantial extension of the global reach: “The new Partners that have joined in 2013 play a vital part in our efforts to implement the technical NGMN work programme. We are proud to build on their expertise and capabilities which will help us to give essential guidance for the successful deployment, operations and further development of LTE and LTE - Advanced. In return the new Partners appreciate the benefits of a broad leadership network.”
