OEwaves’ chip-scale Micro-Opto-Electronic oscillator (Micro-OEO) supported Lockheed Martin's Extended Area Protection and Survivability (EAPS) program’s successful Guided Test Flight of the Miniature Hit-to-Kill (MHTK) interceptor.
The very small and agile interceptor incorporates OEwaves’ Micro-OEO, a chip-scale oscillator that generates fixed microwave and millimeter wave reference signals with breakthrough phase noise performance. The small form factor of MHTK is designed for agility to defeat Rocket, Artillery and Mortar (RAM) targets at ranges greatly exceeding those of current systems.
“We are delighted to be part of the impressive MHTK interceptor’s seeker that was successfully demonstrated in this flight test,” said Lute Maleki, President and CEO of OEwaves. “Our photonics technologies continue to support unprecedented capabilities for effective force protection.”
The size of a small postage stamp, the Micro-OEO is the smallest member in OEwaves’ state-of-the-art photonic oscillator product family, and is based on the company’s proprietary miniature whispering gallery mode resonator technology. The Company’s line of ultra-low phase noise oscillators enable significant performance improvements for ground, space, naval, and airborne radar and signal intelligence systems under dynamic operating environments on various military platforms.
