It is essential for M/A-COM to keep both current and future customers in the European microwave industry up to date with the company’s latest technologies. One of the most appropriate and effective events to showcase our existing and upcoming microwave products and solutions is European Microwave Week. It provides a strategic platform for us to interact directly with all of our European customers, including many important commercial and aerospace OEMs. Importantly too, it is the perfect venue for us to learn more about other microwave and component technologies that are available today and those that will be developed in the future.

We have been attending European Microwave Week for many years and all of us at M/A-COM are excited to be able to share many of our new technology developments in the RF and microwave arena, as well as to showcase new offerings in a variety of emerging markets including RFID and radar sensors. However, what we are most excited about is WiMAX, which is developing in a big way and which we see as one of our biggest growth areas for our pioneering component business into 2007 and beyond.

We have always considered EuMW as a vital source for new technology awareness and over the years it has developed into a very successful and enriching experience. The focused technological conferences that run in tandem with the exhibition attract a wide variety of leading technologists, as well as buyers, which comprise much of our target audience.

As we review the year to date, we are challenged by the increasing international regulation of International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), free technology trade and the migration of commercial production programs out of Europe to lower cost labour sources in countries like China. We, as a company, and an industry must work harder and smarter to overcome these challenges. We do see possibilities of some of the low cost programs taking hold in eastern European countries in the near future.

There will always be new and exciting challenges within the microwave industry – whether it is resource scarcity or internationally-mandated restrictions on technology – and events like European Microwave Week bring together many of the industry’s leading experts to share ways of overcoming these challenges and advancing technologies well into the future. We look forward to meeting old friends and making new ones in Manchester, so please visit us on Stand 206.
