AtlantecRF, the innovative UK based microwave/RF component supplier now provides designers with even greater flexibility in their cabling solutions.
Featuring two new double screened coaxial cable types, the extensive range of standard length assemblies are ready to fulfil “last minute” cabling requirements as well as regular production line and prototyping needs. Geoff Burling, CEO for AtlantecRF said, “These new flexible cable assemblies are available from stock and essentially exhibit very similar performance to copper semi-rigid formed assemblies across the DC to 18GHz range and beyond.”
Over the inner conductor of silver plated copper-clad steel, the solid PTFE dielectric is wrapped with silver plated copper spiral strip. The silver plated copper wire braid outer conductor is covered with a blue FEP jacket.
Standard lengths available range from one to sixty inches, measured from the connector reference planes, in two different O/D sizes of nominal 0.086 and 0.141 inches. Connectors are SMA male in stainless steel with unique anti-torque bodies designed to minimize cable twist during fitting.
Burling continued “Typically, performance at 18.0 GHz of a 12 inch assembly in the 0.141 size includes insertion loss of 0.9dB, VSWR of 1.3:1, velocity of propagation of 70.7% and 90dB shielding. Insulation resistance is 1000 Mohms and the power rating at 18 GHz is 40 watts CW.”
Beyond the standard product range, customization is achievable with features including special lengths, phase matching, different connector types and ident sleeves.
These flexible cable assemblies form part of a family offered by AtlantecRF including the reformable copper/tin composite and the solid aluminum outer conductor semi-rigid, each with distinct individual properties and, as a family, providing comprehensive and flexible equipment cabling solutions.
