Labtech Microwave, one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of microwave component technology has reported a successful European Microwave Exhibition (EuMW) 2007, and in particular noted the shift in profile of potential new customers.
Hosted in Munich, Germany from 8 – 12 October the annual European Microwave Week provided delegates with the opportunity to attend conferences, workshops and short courses given by leading experts in their field. The accompanying exhibition is listed as the largest RF (radio frequencies) and microwaves trade show in Europe.
Labtech Microwave launched a number of new products as well as their re-branded corporate image at this year’s EuMW. Commenting on the developments Robert Lowther, sales and marketing director, said: “The show met all of our expectations. Defence electronics industry representatives expressed a great deal of interest in Labtech’s capabilities to develop low cost mmic based multi-chip modules for AESA radar applications. However, we felt that visitors to Labtech’s stand from key telecoms companies was lacking this year, which is surprising. This may be an indication that they continue to source some or all of their requirements from South East Asia for instance. Although there is significant demand for our products and services within Europe, the EuMW also identified business opportunities for Labtech Microwave in Asia and South East Asia as well.”
He believes that ITAR (International Trade in Arms Regulations) controls put in place by the US government continues to bring attention from European based defence OEM’s looking for “domestic” suppliers. As a result, this has provided even more potential for organisations like us who offer an all encompassing microwave design, manufacturing, assembly and testing service.”
