R&S ZVA-Z110 mm-wave converters allow measurements in the W band
Munich, 12 October 2007 — The R&S ZVA-Z110 mm-wave converters add the frequency range from 75 GHz to 110 GHz (W band) to the high-end network analyzers from Rohde & Schwarz. This covers important frequency bands such as for vehicle distance radar (77 GHz) or aerospace and defense applications (94 GHz). Additional hardware is not necessary, which saves time and costs. Moreover, Rohde & Schwarz is the first provider to support multiport measurements in the W band. The four-port models of the network analyzers do not require an additional external generator, which considerably reduces measurement times. The R&S ZVA-Z110 converters from Rohde & Schwarz set standards in the field of test and measurement for the W band. The converters can be integrated into wafer probers. The dynamic range of typ. >110 dB allows faster measurements and tests on high-rejection filters. Owing to the converters' multiport technology, it is possible to perform three-port and four-port measurements on balanced circuits for MMICs in the automotive area (77 GHz). Tests on low-noise amplifiers can also be performed without any problem for the first time. These tests require low input power levels, which were not provided in existing solutions. The R&S ZVA-Z110 now makes it possible to continuously attenuate the output power by as much as 25 dB. This is especially of advantage when doing research on radar and satellite applications. With respect to test setup, the R&S ZVA-Z110 converters are designed to save time. They are entirely integrated into the firmware of the high-end network analyzers from Rohde & Schwarz. The converters can thus be operated as if they are part of the base unit. Diagrams show the user how to connect the converters. The automatic setting of the power levels prevents damage to the converters. Moreover, Rohde & Schwarz offers the R&S ZV-WR10 calibration kit for the W band. The R&S ZVA-Z110 mm-wave converters for the R&S ZVA24, R&S ZVA40, and R&S ZVT20 network analyzers are now available from Rohde & Schwarz.
