RFI Global Services Ltd. has received UKAS accreditation for RFI-Korea, a key subsidiary compliance laboratory scheduled to open in June in Gunpo. The facility has easy access to Seoul, is near the major Korean handset manufacturers LG and Samsung, and consists of 6000 ft2 equipped with the latest test platforms from manufacturers including Anritsu, Aeroflex, Cetecom and Comprion, carefully selected to give it the best local test case coverage.
Also, RFI-Korea will shortly be adding a Radiated Spurious Emissions Chamber to the facility, to further enhance its testing services. For the first time, customers in the region will have access to the Anritsu ME7873F, the Aeroflex 6401 AIME CT/ISHO and the SCAT 5020 application tester.
As for the accreditation, it is an intensive process and requires considerable investment. Two UKAS auditors spent four days at the facility fully auditing its systems, processes and procedures encompassing both the technical and management activities in relation to the ISO 17025 Standard. This included observing live testing and the review of documentation pertaining to all aspects of the business, contract reviews and a thorough inspection of how RFI conducts the work requested by customers in testing to the appropriate test standards.
Richard Jacklin, RFI’s head of cellular, commented, “As we increase our global footprint we must ensure that there is uniform excellence in the services we provide from every RFI laboratory wherever it is located. UKAS accreditation gives our customers confidence that our test services meet the most stringent standards. Handsets manufacturers can be assured that using RFI will satisfy the regulatory requirements for worldwide markets including those laid down by the Standards Bodies FCC/PTCRB in the US and the GCF in Europe. It is our mission to help Asian manufacturers access these markets.”
