Four out of the nine radar stations which Indra will deliver in India to enhance air traffic management have gone into service. The Chennai, Bellary, Bhopal and Porbandar radar stations are now equipped with mode S secondary radars. The systems passed the different tests established by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) in order to guarantee correct performance of the systems.
In 2010 Indra was awarded the contract to deploy nine radar surveillance systems which will be responsible for the 80 percent of the country’s air space. The five remaining radar systems have all passed the factory acceptance tests in compliance with AAI’s strict schedule.
The radars will be gradually implemented in their final destinations, enabling Indra to prove its capacity to meet the demanding requirements of the project. As part of the project awarded by AAI the company has also been given a mandate to equip 38 airports with its air traffic management system.
