Cree Inc. announces that Shinry Technologies, a premier high-tech enterprise focused on energy efficient applications in transportation and lighting, employed Cree’s 1200V C2M family of SiC MOSFETs in its new, high-efficiency, hybrid electric and electric vehicle (HEV/EV) power converters to achieve industry-leading 96 percent efficiency.  According to Shinry Technologies, Cree’s C2M SiC MOSFETS also enabled a 25 percent reduction in product size and reduced peak power losses by over 60 percent compared to the traditional silicon versions.

Worldwide consumer Wi-Fi customer premises equipment (CPE) shipments surpassed 43.3 million at the end of 1Q-2013; a 16.8 percent increase from 4Q-2012.  “802.11n device shipments still dominate the market, accounting for more than two thirds of total device shipments; however, 802.11ac access point adoption is starting to gain traction,” says Jake Saunders, VP and practice director of forecasting.

AEM Inc. announces a hirel-qualified Sn/Pb (tin/lead) conversion process designed to mitigate the formation of tin whiskers in surface-mount components. The AEM process eliminates potential damage to sensitive electronic devices caused by conventional hot-solder dippingwhile ensuring that converted component terminations con­tain a minimum of 5 percent Pb as verified by SEM/EDS and XRF inspection methods.
