Aeroflex Ltd. announced that the TM500 Test Mobile family now provides full-stack WCDMA handset simulation capability that is scalable from testing and verifying the performance of small cells right up to multi-handset, multi-cell network capacity performance testing.

Aeroflex announced that its TM500 Test Mobile has added support for the 3GPP WCDMA Release 10 standard, the latest evolution of the HSPA+ standards, which adds support for MC-HSDPA (Multi Carrier High-Speed Download Packet Access). 

Operators Polkomtel and Aero2 have chosen Ericsson to supply WCDMA and LTE infrastructure in Poland. The upgrades will allow for expanded WCDMA and LTE coverage in northern and western Poland to keep pace with rapid uptake of smartphones and increased demand for mobile broadband.

With the help of Ericsson, Japan’s eAccess claims to be the first operator in the world to launch a Mixed Mode solution for WCDMA and LTE. Thanks to Ericsson's Mixed Mode solution, eAccess can use the same radio frequency band for both LTE and WCDMA services.

TE Connectivity and ip.access have teamed up to create what is claimed to be the world’s first all-digital integrated Distributed Antenna System (DAS) and small cell base station for WCDMA services.
