Linear Technology Corp. announces the LT8609, a 2A, 42V input synchronous step-down switching regulator. A unique synchronous rectification topology delivers 93 percent efficiency while switching at 2 MHz enabling designers to avoid critical noise-sensitive frequency bands, such as AM radio, while providing a highly compact solution footprint. Burst Mode® operation keeps quiescent current under 2.5µA in no-load standby conditions, making it ideal for always-on systems. 

Linear Technology Corp. announces the LT8311, a high efficiency secondary-side MOSFET driver that operates without the need for primary control in an isolated synchronous forward converter. The LT8311’s unique preactive mode eliminates the need for a signal transformer for primary to secondary-side communication by sensing signals on the secondary side to control synchronous rectification. This mode reduces component count and solution size.

Linear Technology Corp. announces the LT8309, a flyback secondary-side synchronous rectifier driver that replaces the output diode with a MOSFET, allowing up to 10A output current without the use of a heat sink. The maximum output current of a flyback power supply has been limited by the power loss and heat generated from the output diode when no heat sink is used.

A unique Silent Switcher™ architecture reduces EMI/EMC emissions by more than 20 dB, well below the CISPR 25 Class 5 limit. Even with switching frequencies in excess of 2 MHz, synchronous rectification delivers efficiency as high as 96% while Burst Mode® operation keeps quiescent current under 2.5 µA in no-load standby conditions.

Linear Technology announces the LTC3639, a 150V input-capable synchronous buck converter that delivers up to 100mA of continuous output current. It operates from an input voltage range of 4.5V to 150V, eliminating the need for an external transient suspension device. The LTC3639 utilizes internal synchronous rectification and a programmable peak current-mode design to optimize efficiency over a broad range of output currents.
